Guidelines for Successful Full Time Child Care 
(minimum one year commitment)
  • Live Out (85% of FT positions are Live Out)
  • Live In 
Employment Conditions for
Child Care Provider:
  • Salary Range of $450-$600 weekly depending on the educational background and years of experience of the provider along with benefit options.
  • Average work day of about 8-10 hours, 5 days a week, which includes time child spends at school or napping.
  • Holidays and weekends off unless employer occasionally requests otherwise.
  • Two weeks paid vacation, paid sick days.
  • Travels with the family when needed.
  • Private room and bath or apartment provided for live-in provider, typically a television and phone included.
Child Care Provider's Responsibilities:
  • Provide a balance of age appropriate educational, social and recreational experiences daily.
  • Serve as a role model for children; use of correct language, appropriate manners, etiquette and dress.
  • Respect each child as a unique individual.
  • Display a positive attitude toward life and living.
  • Develop and use effective interpersonal skills in handling relationships.
  • Provide an environment that is conducive to learning and growing.
  • Respect the family's right of privacy.
Expectations of Child Care Provider:
  • Become part of the family team providing, firm, positive and consistent discipline.
  • Care for child's laundry.
  • Plan and cook nutritionally sound breakfasts and lunches for the child; clean up afterwards.
  • Pick up after the child or help the child become responsible for him/herself throughout the house and in child's room.
  • Provide child's transportation needs to medical appointments, classes, and other activities.
  • Provide a safe physical environment (toys, furniture, first aid knowledge, preplanning for possible emergencies).
Family Expectations:
  • Respect the contributions of child care provider in the home.
  • Maintain the work schedule as designed.
  • Discuss with the child care provider any problems arising with the children.
  • Notify the child care provider of any schedule changes as early as possible.
  • Respect the child care provider's right of privacy.
A Child Care Agreement Form will be furnished to both you and the family to describe and record job expectations..
